Oasby – Season finale!

Good end to the season at Oasby. Basil was 2nd after dressage, a rail SJ and a great clear Xc. We are thrilled with his progress and he is now having a well deserved holiday. Nancy finished her season with a good double clear and hopefully will be able to contest some 3 stars next year.

We had hoped to take Orange to Pau for his first 4 star, but his blood tests show that he is not fully recovered from a virus. He will have to wait until next season to take on the world. Roll on 2015!

BCA and Little Downham

An outing for Saint last week to Berkshire College – a solid performance left him just out of the placings but with more valuable experience under his belt.

Monday was a busy day for Owen at a wet Little Downham. Zippi and Basil finished 9th and 10th on their intermediate debut, with a double clear from Basil. A 30 dressage and good double clear for Orange picked him up 6th place in the advanced.

Owen is off to Calmsden on Saturday, then Oasby intermediate the following weekend.

Purston and Gatcombe

Super busy week for the team! Wednesday saw Saint at Purston Manor horse trials, one of our local events. He produced a good test and a faultless XC round, but a rail in the show jumping kept him out of the placings. Back on Thursday with Basil and Zippi in the novice class. Basil did a great test and double clear to finish 9th and we think that Zippi was 3rd in the Retrained Racehorse class.

On to Gatcombe on Friday, with Orange and Nancy in the Open Intermediate. Delighted with Nancy, who was much more settled in her test to score a 34, and a good double clear. We are getting to know her a bit better now. She is a mare with an amazing work ethic who loves her job.

Orange was having his first outing since being off colour at Blair Castle, and was certainly delighted to be out. Despite not being in a dressage diva frame of mind, Owen was able to ride a great test to score 28, which hopefully shows progress in our training. He also jumped a great double clear to pick up 6th place.

Goring Heath

After bringing the horses for a quick cross country and show jump school at Lyneham last week, we headed to Goring Heath with Impromptu (Basil), Zippi Jazzman (Zippi) and Picture Perfect (Saint). Saint produced a 70% test and double clear for 5th in a competitive BE100 section and will hopefully soon progress to novice. Zippi stormed around double clear in his novice class to finish second, upgrading to intermediate.

Basil was rather pleased to be out, resulting in 2 rails down which kept him out of the placings but we are still pleased with his over all performance and he will also be contesting an intermediate soon.

Basil at Goring Heath

We head to Purston Manor next with the novices and Gatcombe with the advanced horses.
